Fundraising

Many of the requests the Fleet Lions Club receive are for financial help. In order to meet these demands the Club attempts to maintain a Charity Account of sufficient size to meet the most urgent and/or worthwhile causes. To sustain this fund the Club organises a number of fundraising events each year; in most cases these take the form of local public entertainment events such as our Fireworks display and Beer Festival, or a participation event such as the Classic Motorcycle Rally & Concours.

The Club organises, promotes and runs these events with all profits being taken into our Charity Account. In some cases these events are targeted at raising funds for specific and named causes, in others they are clearly identified as raising funds for our more general local charitable works. The Lions Club of Fleet (CIO) is a Charity Commission Charitable Incorporated Organisation, and registered under No. 1177181 for England & Wales.

Direct donations may be made by contacting our Treasurer treasurer@fleetlions.org.uk.

Our international constitution does not allow any funds so raised to be used for the administration of the Club. Our integrity in the use of funds so generously given by the public when attending our events is a vital element in the foundation of support we have received over very many years from the local public and is incorporated in our new charity status.

In addition to the raising of funds, our members gain much enjoyment and good fellowship from their involvement in these events, and find that they have skills never before experienced.

As many of these events involve public spaces and roads, we have over many years enjoyed the wholehearted support and assistance from the Hampshire County Council, Hart DC, the local Parish Councils (Fleet TC & Church Crookham Parish), local Police force and local medical aid organisations. This to ensure the safe and efficient running of these events. The Councils have also contributed to a Temporary Traffic Management Fund, overseen and administered by the Club's Trustees, which provides signs and marshalling at local events. This has saved the events, such as the Fleet Carnival, from major expense.
